AC Milan midfielder Mark van Bommel has refused to be drawn on talk that the Rossoneri are targeting his former Bayern Munich team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Italian champions have also been linked with a swoop for Arjen Robben, but here too Van Bommel will not add fuel to the fire, despite admitting still speaking to the duo on a regular basis.

Asked who he would recommend to Milan between Schweinsteiger and Napoli schemer Marek Hamsik, Van Bommel replied: "It’s not up to me to make certain choices for the club and the coach.

"Of course, there are many good players who would like to play with Milan."

And the former Bayern Munich captain admitted being in regular contact with both Robben and Schweinsteiger.

"Yes, I talk very often to Bastian and Arjen.

"But not about the transfer market.

"Everybody asks me about Milan and there are many that would have no problem moving here."
