Uruguay booked their place in the final of the 2011 Copa America last night with a 2-0 victory over Peru.

The Uruguayans had Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to thank for firing them past a tough Peru side, with the hitman bagging both goals in a display of brilliance.

Suarez struck in the 53rd and 58th minutes as he powered Uruguay towards what would be their 15th Copa America title.

In the first 45 minutes there had been little to split the sides, but Peru’s play isolated their attacking options, especially Pablo Guerrero and Juan Vargas, meaning they had little chance of finding a way back into the game once falling behind.

Frustration soon set in for Peru and Vargas saw red in the 68th minute, making the country’s task mission impossible.

Now Uruguay await the winners of the Paraguay v Venezuela match this evening.
