Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has promised he will replace Argentine striker Ezequiel Lavezzi if the player leaves the southern Italian club, but commented he does not see much money around to tempt him to cash in.
Lavezzi has been linked with English Premier League side Manchester City, although they now look set to sign Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid.
And while a number of Italian clubs have been said to be pondering a bid for the 26-year-old, De Laurentiis does not believe they will spend the money required to buy the Argentine.
"Lavezzi? I don’t see much money around and I am surprised that some Italian clubs have made steps to sign him", said the Napoli president.
"I don’t think that we will see other players or that we will sign new ones.
"Something will only change if a club is able to pay Lavezzi’s release clause."
Napoli are crossing their fingers that that does not happen, with Champions League football to look forward to next season.
