Belgian midfielder Steven Defour’s proposed move to Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow is shrouded in mystery following reports that the player is having second thoughts over the switch.

Defour’s current club Standard Liege are ready to sell the midfielder to Lokomotiv, but according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the 23-year-old is stalling over the proposed move and is pondering whether a move eastwards is suitable.

Defour has popped up on the radar of a number of sides over the last 12 months, with notably English Premier League giants Manchester United said to be monitoring the Belgian.

But if Defour refuses to head to Russia then that could spark interest from Portuguese champions FC Porto.

The Europa League holders have monitored Defour’s situation and are known to rate the Standard Liege midfielder highly.

It is doubtful the Portuguese side would match the lucrative personal terms on offer from Lokomotiv however.
