Tough-tackling Saint-Etienne midfielder Blaise Matuidi looks to be closing on a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 24-year-old Matuidi has been linked with a number of clubs throughout the transfer window, with English trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United all believed to hold a serious interest in the player.
However, no move across the channel has materialised and the French international is attracted by the idea of joining PSG, who threaten to now have the money to dominate Ligue 1 and also mount a challenge in Europe.
According to reports from French source RMC, talks between PSG and Saint-Etienne and PSG and Matuidi, are progressing well, with each party confident that a deal can be done.
At the Parc des Princes there is much hope that Matuidi could be a worthy successor to Claude Makelele and the Parisians have been searching for an adequate players to take on the former Chelsea midfielder’s role.
