Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal has confirmed that he is heading to join Juventus from Bayer Leverkusen.
Vidal’s future had been up in the air while the player had been competing at the 2011 Copa America, but now it appears to have been smoothed out quickly after the country’s exit.
"I am very happy, this is an important step in my career", said Vidal about his impending switch to Turin.
"The experience I gained in Germany will help me in Italy."
Vidal did warn though that not everything was ironed out just yet.
"There are still some details to be agreed, but the discussions are well advanced."
For Leverkusen, losing the 24-year-old talent is a big blow, but the Bundesliga side have at least achieved their stated ambition of not selling Vidal to rivals Bayern Munich, who had until recently been supremely confident of the player’s arrival at the Allianz Arena.
