The next few days are crucial to the impending transfer of Argentine striker Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid to Manchester City.

City had hoped to finance the Aguero swoop with money received by selling unhappy forward Carlos Tevez, but despite the Argentina star’s move to Corinthians falling through, Roberto Mancini is still keen to push ahead with his move for the Atletico man.

Atletico have granted Aguero an extended break due to his involvement in the Copa America with Argentina, but if no deal is agreed soon then the striker will have to return to the Spanish capital.

To this end, Aguero’s agent Hernan Reguera is travelling to meet Aguero in Argentina to speak to his client about accepting the bid on the table from City.

The English club will pay €45M for Aguero, but need to conclude a contract with the striker, who was still holding out hope that Real Madrid would make a concrete late move for his services.

However, the situation should move forward quickly over the next few days as Aguero is due back in Madrid to start training with Atletico on Wednesday along with the club’s other players that competed in the Copa America.
