Liverpool’s out-of-favour forward Milan Jovanovic has been offer a lucrative move to the Middle East.

The Serbian has been edging closer towards a return to Belgium with Anderlecht, although his current wages at Anfield are such that finding a deal has proved difficult.

Indeed, Anderlecht are ready to ask Liverpool to provide the Serbian with a payoff which will ease his transition to a lower pay-packet at the Belgian giants.

But now Jovanovic, who is thought to earn in the region of £60,000 per week on Merseyside, has been offered a similarly lucrative contract by Saudi Arabian side Al-Shabab.

The Riyadh-based club secured Belgian manager Michel Preud’Homme earlier this summer, tempting the former FC Twente boss to the Middle East.

And Preud’Homme has been promised backing which he will now use to attempt to derail Anderlecht’s move for Jovanovic.
