Palermo have admitted that Javier Pastore will "probably" be on his way to Chelsea.

Pastore is ready to leave the Serie A club after feeling the time has come for him to take the next step in his career, although Palermo have been adamant that the 22-year-old will only be sold for €50M.

The Italians rate Pastore as in the same bracket as his countryman Lionel Messi and believe the attacking midfielder can establish himself as one of the best performers in the game.

Palermo’s president Maurizio Zamparini went on record on 20th July as stating that a club had been in touch over Pastore and were willing to pay between €40M and €50M for the player, and he expected the situation to be resolved in ten days time.

Now Palermo’s vice-president Guglielmo Micciche has admitted that Chelsea is likely to be the side that the Argentine moves to.

"Talk about great, in my opinion he is amazing", said Micciche to Radio Sportiva.

"I remember the trip to Florence when the entire crowd of opponents stood up to applaude. There is no doubt that he is being sold for several reasons.

"He will go to a great club and negotiations are well advanced with a very important team.

"His agent is working well and if someone pays the right amount we are happy to sell him. If not then there is another agreement to keep him happy."

And asked whether Chelsea were the team in question, Micciche replied: "Probably, but I think that there are many other clubs of that level that want the boy."
