French legend Zinedine Zidane has revealed his happiness with his new role at Real Madrid.

With Jorge Valdano having left the role of sporting director, Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho has succeeded in his bid for more power at the Bernabeu, with a direct say in transfers and a job description more comparable with an English-style manager than a Spanish coach.

And Zidane too has taken on more responsibility, with the Frenchman’s new job seeing him act as a bridge between the players and the management.

"Everything is different from what I experienced when I played", said Zidane.

"It’s good, it’s another sensation and a new role. For now I am delighted by it all.

"Honestly, I am very pleased with the reception I received from players, coaches, everyone. We all feel comfortable here."
