Uruguay have won the 2011 Copa America after beating Paraguay 3-0 in the final led by a goalscoring masterclass from Diego Forlan.
The Uruguayans had been improving as the tournament progressed and in the final they were not found wanting against what could have proven to be a stubborn side to break down in Paraguay.
Liverpool man Luis Suarez struck the opener after just 12 minutes to set the tone for a match that Uruguay were to win.
And then Forlan found the back of the net to hand Uruguay a second and ensure they headed in at the break 2-0 up.
It was Forlan again who put the contest beyond any doubt by scoring his second and Uruguay’s third in the last minute of normal time.
For Uruguay the Copa America win was their 15th, a record, moving the country one above Argentina’s 14 victories.
