Real Madrid starlet Antonio Adan has praised the club’s youth set-up for ensuring that all of the goalkeepers in Los Blancos’ first team are homegrown.

With the departure of Polish veteran stopper Jerzy Dudek this summer, Adan is now Real Madrid’s second-choice keeper, leaving other Castilla products Jesus Collado and Tomas Mejias competing for the third-choice spot.

"The youth system is working very well", Adan told Inside Futbol.

"This is the first time since 1995 that all the keepers are Castilla products.

"I’m very glad to be working with the others as all of them are good players."

Adan joined Real Madrid in 1997, progressing through the club’s youth ranks to earn promotion to the senior team.

And while dislodging Iker Casillas looks mission impossible for any goalkeeper, this season promises to be a crucial one for the 24-year-old.
