Arsenal are thought to have indicated that Barcelona are welcome to throw in the services of young midfielder Thiago Alcantara as part of their bid for Cesc Fabregas.

Barcelona are negotiating hard with the Gunners for Fabregas and remain certain that eventually they will bring the Spaniard back to his boyhood club.

But the talks have dragged on, leaving Arsenal to justifiably claim that were they to sell their captain then time to replace the midfielder in the team is running out.

And to this end the Gunners are thought to have informed Barcelona that they would consider a package of £33.5M plus Thiago Alcantara to be acceptable.

The European Champions do not want to lose Thiago Alcantara, who has made huge strides in recent years and is viewed as a typical Blaugrana midfielder.

The 20-year-old, who spent time as part of Flamengo’s youth set-up, is highly rated by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, but Barcelona believe the youngster integral to their future and to this end signed him to a new contract earlier this summer.

That deal sees Thiago Alcantara under contract at the Camp Nou until 2015 with a buy-out clause of €90M.
