Paris Saint-Germain are quickly emerging as Chelsea’s main rivals in the race for Javier Pastore.
The attacking midfielder should leave Serie A side Palermo this summer, although few clubs can afford the asking price of between €40M and €50M.
Indeed, barring any late move from Real Madrid, the field has been narrowed to Chelsea and French giants Paris Saint-Germain, who started the summer with a potential transfer budget of €100M.
And in recent days the Parc des Prince outfit, now led in the transfer market by sporting director and former Inter coach Leonardo, look ever more likely to sign Pastore.
"The club that is really interested in buying Pastore is PSG", said Palermo sporting director Sean Sogliano.
"There is a possibility that the player can move to Paris.
"Leonardo was very interested in this opportunity."
