Juventus have admitted that signing Giuseppe Rossi from Villarreal looks a difficult operation.

The Bianconeri have tracked the Italian striker for most of the summer transfer window and despite earlier interest from Barcelona still remained confident of getting their man.

But Villarreal’s sale of Santi Cazorla to Malaga means the Yellow Submarine are reluctant to consent to the departure of Rossi too.

"Rossi is an Italian football talent", said Juventus director general Beppe Marotta.

"We had him, but in the last hour Villarreal decided they would not let him go."

Juventus therefore are forced to look elsewhere for their quality striker, with Roma’s Mirko Vucinic an option, while Manchester United’s Dimitar Berbatov is also under consideration.
