Cristiano Ronaldo has stated his determination to dethrone Barcelona in La Liga and the Champions League next season.

Ronaldo has had to ensure a league and European trophy drought since he joined Los Blancos from Manchester United, his arrival coinciding with perhaps the finest team ever in world football plying its trade at the Camp Nou.

But the Portuguese is hoping that the club can move ahead of Barcelona this coming season.

Speaking after scoring regularly in the club’s pre-season preparations so far, Ronaldo commented: "I am very happy to score goals but always with me is the goal that the team wins.

"What would make me happier would be to win the league or the Champions League."

The 2011/12 campaign looks make or break for Real Madrid, with coach Jose Mourinho having been supported in the transfer market and handed increased power within the club.
