Nice are promising to do all they can to capture David Trezeguet.
The 33-year-old goal-getter is a free agent after Hercules were relegated from La Liga last season.
Barcelona have been mooted as considering a swoop for the former Juventus striker, for which Trezeguet would surely head back to Spain. But the striker intends to play in his native France next season if the Blaugrana do not send an offer his way.
Marseille have already been linked with the striker, and now Nice have declared they too are keen to speak to Trezeguet.
"We will try to meet him but we haven’t started negotiations yet", commented Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere.
"We have called the player and we are waiting for an answer.
"We will try to understand what we will be able to do, at the moment I don’t know if he would accept our offer or wants to join us."
