French champions Lille are interested in Lazio centre back Mobido Diakite.
On the lookout for reinforcements ahead of what is expected to be a battle to defend their Ligue 1 title, Rudi Garcia has honed in on the 24-year-old.
And the signs are that Lille may get their way with Lazio prepared to accept €5M for the Frenchman.
The Rome side’s coach Edy Reja is thought to have indicated to Lazio’s management that he would allow Diakite to leave the Stadio Olimpico, but first wants a replacement.
This threatens to leave Lille waiting while Lazio line up their chosen target.
24-year-old Diakite has never played club football in France, turning out instead in Italy with Pescara before moving to Lazio.
