Reports from Italy suggest that Manchester City have indicated that they would match any bid made by Manchester United for Wesley Sneijder.

Sneijder is pondering over a move to Old Trafford, while United have yet to lodge an official bid despite Inter confirming that for the right price the Dutchman will be allowed to leave.

But United could face a fight with local rivals City for Sneijder’s signature, if the Citizens choose to firm up their interest.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, City have expressed an interest in Sneijder and wish to be kept informed of developments.

With Inter thought to be looking for €35M for the Dutchman, this amount would be easily within City’s reach.

And Roberto Mancini’s men could also punch their weight with United over the ex-Real Madrid man’s wage demands, as well as, like United, offering Champions League football.

It remains to be seen how concrete City’s interest is, but it could represent a dangerous challenge to United’s Sneijder desire.
