The long term future of legendary Spanish striker Raul is unclear after suggestions current club Schalke are unwilling to renew his contract on comparable terms.

Raul takes home a hefty sum from the Ruhr giants, but sees his present deal expire at the end of the current season.

And while there is no suggestion that the 34-year-old is looking to leave Schalke, having declared life in the Bundesliga to his liking, a vastly inferior contract offer would likely be frowned upon by the ex-Real Madrid man.

In that case a big money offer from Russia would be sure to arrive for Raul.

The Spaniard has already attracted interest from Anzhi Makhachkala, who could proceed to hand Raul a well paid swansong in the Russian Premier League.

A return to his homeland of Spain can also not be ruled out.
