Roma could go head to head with Manchester City for Fiorentina winger Alessio Cerci.
La Viola’s impressive 24-year-old has emerged as a target for City boss Roberto Mancini, but is also on Giallorossi boss Luis Enrique’s radar, with the Spaniard ready to fight hard to keep Cerci in Serie A.
The 24-year-old only landed in Florence last summer, with La Viola ironically paying Roma €4M for a player who had been away from the Stadio Olimpico for successive seasons on loan with Brescia, Pisa and Atalanta.
A return back to the Giallorossi and for a price greater than that for which Roma sold the player would represent a remarkable turnaround for Cerci. But the winger impressed in Serie A last season and has shown consistent improvement.
This has not been lost on Mancini, who would like to take another winger to Eastlands before the transfer window shuts.
Bidding for Cerci is expected to start at around €7M, although if an auction got under way then Roma could hardly hope to compete with City.
