Highly rated Belgian midfielder Steven Defour has turned down a second club this summer.
After backing out of a move to Lokomotiv Moscow, Defour has now vetoed a proposed transfer to Serie A side Udinese.
Udinese had agreed a fee with Defour’s club side Standard Liege, but when the midfielder learned that the Italians wished to send him on loan next season to Spanish club Granada, he rejected the switch.
Granada gained promotion to La Liga last season and had hoped to be able to count on the 23-year-old in their fight to survive.
Defour though is aiming to play for a better team than Granada and is quite content to sit it out at Standard Liege until a better bid comes through.
The midfielder has been linked with both Manchester United and Real Madrid at points in the past 12 months, but neither of the European powerhouses have launched a swoop this summer.
