Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis has explained that he would not buy Mario Balotelli from Manchester City because he is concerned the striker would harm the team spirit the southern Italian club enjoy.
The Azzurri are on the lookout for another striker and, should any interested party meet Argentine hitman Ezequiel Lavezzi’s buy-out clause, that search will only intensify.
But while Villarreal forward Giuseppe Rossi has been mentioned as a possible target, De Laurentiis would definitely not try to take Balotelli from City.
"If somebody pays Lavezzi’s termination clause we will have to replace him", admitted De Laurentiis to Sky Sport 24.
"And we will sign a stronger player.
"Rossi? I will try to sign him again. I called him some time ago but he wanted to move to Real Madrid or Barcelona. I am ready to let Villarreal keep him for another season."
And when it was suggested Napoli may move for Balotelli, De Laurentiis was quite clear.
"Balotelli? He has a strong personality. I am afraid that he can destroy our group."
