Spanish side Villarreal are leading the chase for Mexican youngster Giovani dos Santos.

The 22-year-old is currently under contract with English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur, but has failed to establish himself at White Hart Lane since landing from Barcelona in 2008.

Indeed, Dos Santos has seen himself sent out on loan repeatedly, with spells at Ipswich Town, Galatasaray and Racing Santander.

Spurs are willing to part with Dos Santos and have placed an asking price of some €8M on the young midfielder’s head – that would represent a profit on the €6M the English side paid Barcelona to take Dos Santos from the Camp Nou.

Villarreal though stand prepared to pay just €6M, but despite this being less than Spurs desire, it is €1M more than Sevilla have offered for the player.

Dos Santos is keen to return to Spain to enjoy regular first team football and he impressed last season with Racing Santander.

A dark horse in the race though are Serie A side Udinese, who themselves are weighing up entering the chase for the Mexican.
