Paris Saint-Germain Sporting Director Leonardo has declared himself happy with the club’s summer recruitment drive, believing it leaves the French giants perfectly placed for a Ligue 1 and Europa League bid this season.
Exciting Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore is the jewel in PSG’s summer transfer crown, but the club have also brought in a number of other players who look to have yet to reach their potential.
"Much has been said about the transfers of PSG this summer", said Leonardo, "and it’s true there has been a lot of movement because there were many departures and we had to replace players like [Claude] Makelele, [Gregory] Coupet, [Ludovic] Giuly and [Tripy] Makonda.
"Today we have a staff of 24 players, with a few thirtysomethings who bring their experience, and four young people from the academy who come to join the group as professionals.
"Most new players are between 22, like Pastore, or 26, like Mohamed Sissoko, and PSG now has a young squad, built for the future.
"I think we have a sufficient number of players to build a competitive team both in France and the Europa League."
