Inter have thrown Atletico Madrid striker Diego Forlan into the mix as a possible replacement for Samuel Eto’o – but will not pay more than €10M for the striker.
Eto’o is still thinking over a move to Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala which would see him pocket €20M per season for the next three years. Anzhi are confident that Eto’o will agree to move to Dagestan, but the Cameroonian himself is staying tight-lipped.
Inter though will be ready to replace the former Barcelona striker and have been hard at work considering potential replacements.
Uruguay star Forlan has jumped onto that list, although the Nerazzurri are quite clear over just how much could be paid for a player that is 32 years old.
Forlan is under contract to Atletico Madrid until 2013 and his buyout clause is set at some €36M. Currently the striker earns €4.5M per year at the Vicente Calderon – an amount Inter would want him to lower.
Atletico would be open to allowing Forlan to leave, especially if the club are successful in their pursuit of FC Porto hitman Radamel Falcao.
