Blackburn Rovers have switched their attention to Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta following Raul’s refusal to consider a move to Ewood Park.

The Spanish legend was wanted by the English Premier League side, but prefers to remain at Bundesliga outfit Schalke, leaving Blackburn still desperate to make a real splash this summer.

And now in Rovers’ sights is Italian hitman Iaquinta, who is available from the Bianconeri for the right price.

The 31-year-old has attracted attention from elsewhere too, with Real Betis hoping to tempt the forward to Spain.

Iaquinta joined Juventus in 2007 after seven years starring in southern Italy with Udinese.

The forward quickly established himself at the Bianconeri, picking up international recognition with Italy too, landing 40 caps and six goals for the Azzurri.

Whether Iaquinta will be prepared to join Blackburn for a spell in England remains to be seen, but the goalscorer may be ready to experience a new challenge having never played outside Italy.
