Anzhi Makhachkala coach Gadzhi Gadzhiev has hailed the impending arrival of Samuel Eto’o at the Russian Premier League side.

While stressing he does not know just how far along negotiations are with Eto’o’s Italian side Inter, the 65-year-old nevertheless dismissed talk that the Cameroonian was being recruited just to raise the profile of the club.

Indeed, Gadzhiev believes that Eto’o will improve the standard of Anzhi throughout the length of his contract.



"I know nothing", said Gadzhiev, "and I do not know when it [Eto’o’s signing] happens."

The Russian coach is confident though that Eto’o will arrive in Russia well prepared and will help to raise Anzhi’s level.

"He has done all the preparation with Inter, I’m not afraid about this.

"Samuel is not just advertising for us, but a player who will improve Anzhi within two or three years."
