Following their warning to Manchester United over the hopelessness of pursuing Mario Gotze, Borussia Dortmund have now hit out at supposed interest from Bayern Munich in the 19-year-old.

The Ruhr giants are growing increasingly concerned that Gotze is a target for a number of European clubs, and losing the talent to their bitter rivals Bayern would be a bridge too far.

Indeed, Dortmund are determined to ensure Gotze remains at the club.

"You can forget the idea of a transfer for Mario to a German club", blasted Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke to Sport Bild.

"Bayern can forget making an offer.

"We would be completely stupid to let Mario go."
