Serie A duo Inter and Juventus are looking closely at the possibility of snapping up Javier Mascherano from Barcelona.

Following the arrival of Cesc Fabregas at the Camp Nou, both Inter and Juventus have been alerted to the possibility that a substantial bid for Mascherano may well meet with favour at the European Champions.

Mascherano is not guaranteed a first team spot at Barcelona, although Blaugrana coach Josep Guardiola is known to value his versatility, with the Argentine also able to operate as a central defender when needed and clocking up 45 appearances last season.

Nevertheless, the Serie A pair believe that Barcelona would be looking for around €22M for Mascherano and while this could prove expensive for Juventus, it would be affordable for Inter.

The Nerazzurri could also offer Mascherano Champions League football, an important factor for the player, who helped Barcelona to lift the showpiece trophy last season.

With Barcelona not actively looking to sell the former Liverpool man, Juventus and Inter could have a difficult time taking the 27-year-old away from the Camp Nou though.
