Dutch winger Royston Drenthe is preparing to bring his unhappy spell at Real Madrid to an end.
Drenthe spent last season on loan at Hercules and suffered the pain of relegation from La Liga.
And despite returning to Real Madrid this summer, the winger is clearly not in coach Jose Mourinho’s plans for the forthcoming campaign.
Now according to Madrid-based daily Marca, Real Madrid are speaking to the 24-year-old about terminating his contract at the club.
Drenthe is desperate for first team football next season and understands that is extremely unlikely at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid paid Eredivisie club Feyenoord €14M for Drenthe in 2007.
