AC Milan supremo Silvio Berlusconi has dropped the biggest hint yet that the Rossoneri will move for out-of-favour Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani.
Sources in Italy have confirmed that Aquilani is moving closer towards the Serie A champions and the player himself was quoted as saying "I am close to Milan" over the weekend.
Now Berlusconi has admitted that the former Roma man is on the Rossoneri’s shopping list by commenting that Aquilani "is an interesting player."
Whether Aquilani is the infamous "Mister X" touted as the answer to Milan’s midfield problems remains to be seen, but Liverpool are prepared to let the player depart for Italy if an agreement can be reached.
With Charlie Adam, Stewart Downing and Jordan Henderson having arrived at Anfield this summer, combined with the presence of Steven Gerrard, Lucas, Raul Meireles, Christian Poulsen and Jay Spearing, the road to minutes on the pitch for the Italian is blocked.
And the Serie A champions will delight in offering Aquilani an escape route.
