Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has warned Arsenal and Samir Nasri about the player’s potential participation in the Gunners’ Champions League game against Udinese on Wednesday.
Nasri is on the way to Eastlands and Mancini expects the deal to be done soon, but the midfielder’s presence on the pitch against Liverpool at the weekend was a surprise and, should he become cup-tied by appearing in the Champions League, City look likely to end their interest.
"I hope that we can have Samir Nasri in the next days", said Mancini after presiding over City’s 3-2 win at Bolton Wanderers yesterday.
"But I don’t know when. We still have 10 days.
"I hope he is not the last one in."
Asked whether he would still sign a cup-tied Nasri, Mancini was far from certain, hinting in that case the deal would be off.
"If he plays in the Champions League it is a big problem. I don’t know [if he would still be signed], but hopefully we will close the deal in the next 24 hours."
