Lassana Diarra has dug in his heels at Real Madrid and played down talk of a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
Sources in Spain had expressed confidence that the deal was done for the Frenchman’s move to White Hart Lane, and Real Madrid had indeed agreed a fee with Spurs of €12M.
Diarra too was thought to have given the green light to the switch as his future at the Bernabeu is bleak.
However, the Frenchman has U-turned and declared that he has not agreed to go to Spurs, despite Real Madrid looking to push him out.
"The information about my departure is a lie", Diarra said to AS as he reacted to reports he had been sold to Spurs.
"There is no agreement with Tottenham and I do not think there will be.
"I have a contract with Real Madrid until 2013 and Jose Mourinho is my coach."
Despite Diarra’s bullish words, the Frenchman looks to have no future at Real Madrid.
The 26-year-old was left out of the club’s pre-season tours of North America and Asia respectively and, should he wish to avoid a long spell on the bench, will have to move before the transfer window closes.
