Manchester City are being tipped to submit a €5M offer for Real Madrid’s out-of-favour midfielder Fernando Gago before 31st August.
Gago is surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and saw a proposed switch to former club Boca Juniors break down earlier this month after the Argentine side offered Los Blancos a fee believed to be as little as €1M.
The Argentine schemer expressed his disappointment that Boca had not done more to take him back to his homeland and Gago remains keen to leave Real Madrid.
Manchester City therefore would be a dream destination for the 25-year-old.
According to Madrid-based daily Marca, Roberto Mancini is preparing to try and take Gago to Eastlands for just €5M, substantially less than the €10M Real Madrid are demanding.
Italian side Roma are also tracking Gago and would rival City, with coach Luis Enrique believing the midfielder is perfectly suited to Serie A football.
It is likely the transfer saga surrounding the former Boca Juniors star will go to the wire and Real Madrid may well accept a cut-price offer on deadline day rather than be stuck with the Argentine.
