Ajax striker Mounir El Hamdaoui is moving closer to the exit door at the Amsterdam ArenA after Blackburn Rovers joined Lille in the chase for the player’s services.

El Hamdaoui is free to leave Ajax providing the Dutch club’s asking price is met, which is believed to be €5M.

French champions Lille were the first club to ponder a move for the 27-year-old this month as they seek to adequately bolster their side ahead of their Champions League campaign.

But now the Moroccan is set to have another option in the form of English Premier League outfit Blackburn.

The Ewood Park side have been scouring the transfer market for a new striker and were turned down by Schalke hitman Raul earlier this month.

El Hamdaoui is an altogether more achievable target for the English side however.

The striker has struggled to make an impact at Ajax after moving to the club from AZ last year.
