Lille are desperately scouring the transfer market for another striker after South Korean hitman Park Chu-Young pulled out of the final stage of his medical at the club.
Park had been all set to move from Monaco to the Ligue 1 champions until a late phone call from Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger saw the 26-year-old drop everything and head to London.
Lille were dismayed by the player’s behaviour as Park simply disappeared.
Now Rudi Garcia’s side are working to activate long cast aside back-up options, though the road to a signing is rocky.
Topping Lille’s new list is Fenerbahce forward Issiar Dia, but the Istanbul giants want a fee of €6M for the Senegal international – too steep for the Ligue 1 champions.
Money concerns affect Lille’s next target too, fellow Fenerbahce hitman Mamadou Niang, who earns some €450,000 per month with the Yellow Canaries.
A third option is Nancy striker Youssouf Hadji. The 31-year-old is available for around €3M.
