Diego Forlan has revealed he finds it difficult to leave Atletico Madrid and Spanish football after confirming his move to Serie A giants Inter.

The Uruguayan star will arrive at the Nerazzurri as Samuel Eto’o’s replacement at a cost of €5M.

The fee is a far cry from the €21M Atletico paid Villarreal for the striker back in 2007, although Forlan has helped the Vicente Calderon club to a degree of success, including the Europa League in the 2009/10 season.

"It’s hard to leave Spain", said the former Manchester United forward.

"I will never forget all that this country has given me."

Nevertheless, Forlan declared that the chance to join Inter was simply too good to refuse.

"At 32, to join Inter is a great challenge.

"It is not an opportunity that presents itself very often."
