Park Chu-Young’s agent has defended his client’s decision to pull out of a move to Lille in favour of a switch to Arsenal.

The South Korean forward had already completed the first half of his medical with the French champions and was due to attend the following day to complete the second half and put pen to paper on a contract.

But Park failed to turn up and Lille later learned that the 26-year-old was on his way to the Emirates.

Lille President Michel Seydoux was left fuming, stating that if that were the kind of person that Park was then he had no place in Rudi Garcia’s side in any case.

Park’s agent Maurizio Morana however has defended his client, claiming that in his place other players would have done exactly the same.

"The boy was at Lille’s hotel, in order to complete his medical, but we were called by [Arsene] Wenger in person and we decided to leave Lille for Arsenal", said the Korean’s agent.

"We did not sign any contract with the French club and I’m not sorry the boy did not want to sign it.

"I think it’s inappropriate to speak of morality with a guy that’s so young. All his contemporaries would have made their own choice."
