Brazilian midfielder Diego has joined Atletico Madrid from Wolfsburg.
His arrival was widely expected as the player had expressed a desire to head to the Vicente Calderon and was an outcast at Wolfsburg.
However, rather than joining Atletico on a permanent deal, the 26-year-old has landed on a season-long loan.
Atletico will assume Diego’s expensive contract of €5M per year for the duration of the loan.
The Spanish side represent Diego’s fourth club since 2009.
The attacking midfielder has played for Werder Bremen, Juventus and Wolfsburg in that time.
