Tottenham Hotspur rejected a bid of £40M from Chelsea for Luka Modric yesterday according to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp.

The Croatian schemer has been the subject of a number of bids from Chelsea throughout the summer transfer window, but Spurs stood firm and insisted that Modric would not be sold.

And despite a big-money bid arriving with just 24 hours left to go before the window closed, the White Hart Lane outfit have remained true to their word.

Spurs boss Redknapp confirmed this evening that a £40M bid landed for Modric, but was swiftly rejected in line with the club’s desire to keep the midfielder.

Redknapp is now certain that Modric will concentrate on the task at hand at White Hart Lane when he returns from the international break.
