Saint-Etienne have signed striker Max Gradel from English side Leeds United.
The Greens were determined to snap up the 23-year-old before the transfer window closes and have signed Gradel to a four-year contract.
The Ivory Coast international impressed with Leeds, joining the Elland Road club in 2009, initially on loan, before transforming that into a permanent switch.
And Saint-Etienne had been taking notice, with the club’s scouts a fixture at Leeds’ early games in the Championship this season.
Gradel had picked up the Fans’ Player of the Year and the Players’ Player of the Year awards with the English side in a measure of his popularity.
The striker is expected to be followed into Saint-Etienne by Romanian Banel Nicolita, who is joining from Steaua Bucharest.
