Joe Cole has labelled his new club Lille "a little Barcelona" after completing his loan switch to northern France.
The English creative midfielder joined Lille yesterday on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool, turning down an offer from Aston Villa in the process.
Cole’s move abroad, to another country and another league, has been seen as a bold one, but it is one the former Chelsea man is delighted to make, explaining he knows all about the Ligue 1 champions.
"I know Eden Hazard of course", said Cole.
"He’s a great player.
"I know [Moussa] Sow, the top scorer last season, [Benoit] Pedretti."
Cole admitted though that he does not watch French football, but still knows enough to be sure Lille are a lot like Barcelona.
"We don’t get much French football in England, it is not shown on TV.
"The way the guys play here reminds me of a little Barcelona. They pass the ball quickly and well."
