Bayern Munich and Manchester City have been joined in the hunt for Borussia Monchengladbach starlet Marco Reus by Liverpool.
The German midfielder-cum-forward has excelled at Borussia-Park and it appears simply a matter of time until Gladbach have a series of big money offers to address.
Reus has long been tipped to end up at the Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich continue their policy of hoovering up the very brightest Bundesliga talents.
But the 22-year-old is thought just as ready to seek pastures new and try his luck in the English Premier League.
And he will have options, with Manchester City having been joined by Liverpool in holding an interest, according to sources in Germany.
Reds boss Kenny Dalglish is ready to launch a mini-spending spree in January as he seeks to boost the club’s attacking power.
A failure to convert chances has seen Liverpool struggle to finish off teams, resulting in only two points taken from two home clashes against newly promoted sides in the form of Norwich and Swansea.
Reus has already scored seven goals in this season’s Bundesliga and demonstrated a flair for being in the right place at the right time, finishing his opportunities off with a cold-blooded ruthlessness that Dalglish would welcome at Anfield.
The recruitment of the 22-year-old would also be entirely in keeping with Liverpool’s desire to bring young talent to the club, rather than splashing out on ageing stars.
Reus is set to only move for a bumper fee however, with the German under contract with Gladbach until 2015.
