Serie A giants Inter have confirmed their interest in promising Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas.

Marco Branca, the Nerazzurri’s technical director, has admitted that the 22-year-old is a player on the club’s radar.

Vargas currently turns out for domestic side Universidad de Chile, but is expected to soon leave South America in a big money move.

"At this moment we are working on the transfer market, but I can’t mention the players we are tracking", said Branca when asked over Inter’s January swoops.

But the Italian did reveal one name – that of Vargas.

"We know Eduardo Vargas, he is a very good forward and we are interested.

"But at the same time, I can assure you that we have not made an official offer to sign him."

Vargas excelled in the 2011 Copa Sudamericana and quickly attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, AC Milan and CSKA Moscow are all believed to hold an interest in the Chilean.
