Dutch giants Feyenoord are on the verge of signing highly rated young midfielder Jordy Clasie to a new contract – but the move will not prevent an eventual three-way tussle for the 20-year-old’s services.

Clasie has emerged as one of the Rotterdam side’s great hopes and his potential has not gone unnoticed.

Three of England’s elite are tracking Clasie, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur the Premier League giants holding an interest in the young Dutchman.

Clasie is a player of exceptional technique who has also been praised for his superb vision and passing ability in the middle of the park.

Already the midfielder has been called up to Cor Pot’s Holland Under-21 squad and Feyenoord are desperate to see the youngster put pen to paper on a new contract.

"Conversations with Jordy are approaching the end stage", Feyenoord director Martin van Geel told NUsport.

"Now is the time to work on the smallest details of the contract."

Seeing Clasie ink a fresh deal should allow Feyenoord a better defence against the youngster’s suitors, though in the end it may merely mean a higher fee for the 20-year-old can be realised.

There has also been tentative interest from Barcelona.
