Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has opened the door for another striker to arrive at the Emirates in January – but only if he is presented with a top quality player.

At present the Frenchman stressed he has no deals in the pipeline to take the burden off Robin van Persie, despite recently confirming he feels the Gunners are too reliant on the Dutchman’s goals.

Wenger will also lose the services of Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh in January to the African Cup of Nations, further reducing his firepower.

And the Gunners have been linked with an array of forwards including Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, Marseille hitman Loic Remy and 1.FC Koln man Lukas Podolski.

Wenger though insists no concrete plans are yet in place.

"At the moment, I do nothing in January", said the Frenchman when questioned about bolstering his attacking options.

"I have a big squad, but if you knock at my door and say ‘I have a fantastic player for you’, I will not turn it down."

But the Arsenal manager does not feel as if a gun is being pointed at his head with regards to bringing in another forward.

"If we have no injuries, we should get away with it because we have [Alex] Oxlade-Chamberlain who can play there, Park [Chu-Young], [Andrei] Arshavin and Van Persie.

"So we still have offensive players, but we could be a bit short if we have an injury."
