Diego Maradona has ridiculed Pele for his suggestion that Neymar can become better than Lionel Messi.

 

Pele rates the Santos striker highly and believes that he could soon challenge Messi for the title of "best player in the world".

 

For Maradona however, the idea that Neymar could match his countryman Messi is fanciful.

 

"Maybe Pele took the wrong pill", said Maradona when told about the comments.

 

"He does not know what he’s on about – he should change doctors", added the Argentina legend, who now coaches in Dubai with Al Wasl.

 

And Maradona stressed he is certain that Messi will not be eclipsed by Neymar.

 

"Neymar is good, but he’ll never match Messi."
