Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes that Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp would be the perfect choice to succeed Fabio Capello as national team boss.

Capello is leaving as England manager after Euro 2012, no matter what the result his team are able to achieve.

England’s Football Association have stated they would like the Italian’s successor to be English, putting Redknapp, who has masterminded Tottenham’s rise, even enjoying Champions League football last season, in the driving seat.

It is a choice Eriksson would not find fault with.

"I would say Harry Redknapp is a very, very good choice", the Swede told BBC Radio 5.

"Of course, there are others.

"Harry is English and if the FA wants an English manager I think he’s the perfect one", added Eriksson.
