AC Milan are hoping Manchester City cut their asking price for Carlos Tevez.

The Argentine will leave Eastlands in January, though it remains unclear whether this will take the shape of a loan or a permanent move.

A loan to the Serie A giants had indeed been mooted, with a fee of €3M being paid to City to take the striker until the end of the season – but the situation is fluid.

Milan have been assured that Tevez wishes to move to the San Siro and join up with Massimiliano Allegri’s men and are keen to use this to their advantage.

And sources in Italy have confirmed that the Rossoneri expect Tevez to tell City that he only wants to join Milan.

The Italians’ vice-president Adriano Galliani would like to be able to state this to City during negotiations, pressing the English for a favourable deal.

There could yet be interest from elsewhere however, with Corinthians and Inter believed to be pondering moves.
